Level 3 Specialist Practitioner Support
Our level 3 services are delivered by specialist stop smoking practitioners who are highly skilled in supporting smokers with behaviour change, nicotine addiction, and stop smoking medications.
We offer a 12-week programme of support and free medication to tobacco smokers, such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy. This includes providing free vapes as part of the government “swap to stop” scheme.*
Our specialists work in local clinics across County Durham, in a number of settings including Primary Care, Secondary Care and community venues.
We offer a variety of appointments within our 90+ weekly clinics, including face-to-face local clinics, telephone, and digital support. Appointments are available 8am – 8pm.
*(Vapes are not available to under 18s or pregnant people).
SMI and DARS Clinics
Our Level 3 Service also offers a more flexible approach to quitting for clients with severe mental illness (SMI) and clients in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (DARS). This includes building towards setting a quit date with a Cut Down to Stop treatment option and extended support for up to 6 months with a Level 3 Specialist Practitioner.
Face to face stop smoking support is offered at Drug and Alcohol Hubs throughout County Durham (Peterlee, Horden, Durham City, Consett and Bishop Auckland) for clients currently accessing support for addiction, and at Chester-Le-Street Community Mental Health Hub for clients with SMI. Telephone appointments are also offered if this is more appropriate for the client.
